This was my second visit to Surabaya. I went to ITS, UNAIR, Suramadu, Bebek Sinjay (Superrrrr Delicious), House of Sampoerna, Seafood Layar, Sambal Udang Bu Rudy, Sate Klopo Ondomohen. Too much eat, I hate Surabaya, why do you have to has many delicious food out there??? regards fatty Wulan. Then accompanied Radif to Zulfa Tailor, also to Radif's house at Delta Sari.

Bismillah. My mission was meeting my future parents in-law (Amin). Met Radif's father for the first time, gave me first impression, how javanese his family is. Me, who was born and grew up in Jakarta, felt dizzy what to do's and dont's regading Javanese culture. Shoot to my head!

I was just being my self, that's it. I wish they love me too *finger crossed*.

Whatta great Saturday night watching Liverpool FC won againt Everton at Goodison Park (overwhelming happy). My friend, Kang Goris, said we're just lucky than good winning this match. Hmmm, I just want to embrace the result. It's still a win, better than lose, right? :)

I love watch (nonbar in Bahasa) LFC every saturday/sunday night with Bigreds. This has been my weekly routine since...I don't know, hehehe. Many of you wonder why beautiful girl like me (LOL) want to mingled with boys & smokes, drive alone from Tj.Priok to Kebayoran than watch at home and sit nicely? It was because:

Chant. We sing & cheer LFC chant, from Anfield Road until You'll Never Walk Alone. A friend of mine, who even went to Anfield shared that the ambience when we sing the chant is totally the same when he watched it live in Liverpool.
Friends. I met & make new friends. I met lads and lasses, yes I'll never walk alone. Perhaps I'll meet my future husband here (finger crossed).
The place. Do you avoid smoke or have toddlers? don't worry. If nonbar hold in Es Teler 77, they provide separate place upstair. Equipped with sofa and chair, so comfort!
Charity. Bigreds has a program named One Goal One Thousand. Donate one thousand for a goal which made during match.

Excited! That was my feeling when me & my friends planned to look up my campus. Am craving for some improvement that has been made there. Spotted at front gate (near with BNI ATM), there is a bike shelter. Oh ya, not only one shelter, but there two more: near GKU Timur and GSG. The bike it self is for free, you can use it as long as you ride it in ITB area. Too bad, I couldn't ride it, it was Saturday. Salute for ITB '88! :) Now, am questioning my self, what's my contribution for my almamater? What have you been done?

It was rainy back then when I captured those pictures. Don't you love seeing those beautiful flowers? Even there's cherry blossom tree at my faculty.

Had a superb weekend on July, alhamdulillah. I Met a very best friend of mine, Nadya, who accompanied me & my family. We had dinner & met Mimi at KLCC, then watched Transformer at Pavillion. Actually Nadya had bought us Harry Potter's ticket too. But due to a very long queue at Immigration, we cancelled it and she sold the ticket :D Terima kasih Neng Nadya for your super nice hospitality during that day.

I went to Malaysia to see my boyfriend : Andy Carrol and Daniel Agger, Liverpool's sweet heart, hehe. Liverpool hold friendly match with 'Harimau Malaysia' on July 16, 2011 (Saturday) at 5.45 pm at Stadium Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.

Before we watched them played againts National Team, me & my friends had visited Putrajaya, the federal administrative center of Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur used to be a home for goverment, but due to the overcrowding and congestion, it was shifted to Putrajaya. For me, Putrajaya is too awesome!! Legendary masterpiece from Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad.

Life is unpredictable. I graduated from university, then applied to many companies. For almost a year, I joined at multinational beverage company at supply chain department. I love the company so much!!! Its American culture, well-developed system at any process, nice people, environment, also my job.

Then, I decided to resign in order to develop my line. Those time was really hard yet the happiest phase of my life. Why? It was hard because actually my parent didn't support me, they forced me to apply another job than being an entrepreneur. I realized that I hadn't discussed with them earlier. I felt when my mom sad; she insisted me to get a job; she was talking job application in here and there. Woosaaahh... I depressed. I'm not kind a person who can tell anything to my parent, nor my best friend.

And... here's the best part. I follow them, I try to make them happy, this is my main responsibility as a daughter. When I tried to apply, one of oil & gas company from France called me. I ever applied on 2009 (failed) and they called me again on 2011, without any circumtances, when I need a job. I was interviewed twice and viola! I got a new job. The point that I want to share with you all is, just follow your parent's hope, they want the best for you and let Allah lead your way. Allah always give His grace at a right time.

Style inspiration to attend your friend's wedding. Yaa, it's time for KAFTAN. Complying Dian Pelangi's wedding theme : Moroccan, we decided to wear kaftan. Kaftan is a long flowing garment that has long sleeves and has ankle length, Kaftan is the original Moroccan dress. It looks elegant and modest at the same time. My suggestion for selecting best fitted kaftan : choose Kaftan that has tie along your waist, so it can shape your body, and It won't make you look in bigger, CMIIW :D

I recognized Talitha from her blog, Non-sugarbanana, when she made tutorial how to wear pashmina and the tutorial was really simple and easily understand, it was my first time wearing pashmina (see my post here).

I did blog-walking until I came to Puput Utami's Blog. Recently I noticed that she used to be my junior at High School. We started leaving comment, I like the way she mix her casual outfit and she always give her best pose. She gave me an award (see the post here), and guess what? I did left on my last paragraph " I wonder we can do some meet up sometime, is it a great idea? :)) "

A hearted person and very kind person, Febby. She is Puput's best friend, I met her at Urban Kitchen. I felt really comfortable and close immediately with her since we first met. We like to share our story, yes she love to share and discuss everything.

And Restu, a very best friend of mine. What words should describe her? .I spent almost 8 years with her and I learnt many things from her. She challenge her self to choose her passion and she work really hard for it, salute! And We've been developing our Mainland Heritage together, all the best for us.

The point of my post is : how great the power of internet is, especially blogging. We can meet unknown person to be our best friends. And our best friend can be a friend with your best friend, this is a circle of friends. Our silaturahm become tight (I miss you all ^^) and I feel blessed that I can meet new people and get inspired from them, alhamdulillah.

I just found my mood to start blogging. It been awhile since I left this lovely blog, hehehe. Yess, I miss you my dear friends, I miss blog-walking, leave you a comment, and get inspired.

My current activity is 100% enthusiasm for Mainland Heritage. I developed everything : from the selection of the fabric, developed tailor (which is the hardest part), coordinated with the Ima (my partner whose handle the production), created webstore, did our own photo shoot with Restu, and all the small things like label & sticker. I felt happy because I can apply all knowledge that I got in college, but sometime felt crazy because unexpected problems, Life.

Oh yaa, also the loveliest Hijabers Community. I've been learning many islamic values from this community, alhamdulillah. We valued and appreciated each other, we love to discuss many things, and always try to be a better muslimah, insya allah. I think most of you had seen these pictures, we discussed our launching and had interviewed by Republika.

Wohooo.. thanks to Mba Fifi who was being a make-up artist for us so we looked a little bit beautiful (memuji diri sendiri -_-), and taught me how to apply mascara correctly ^^ hehehe. Yes.. we had a really good time, thanks HS.

Ungkapan yang terdengar sangat familiar, apa yang kita punya saat ini rasanya selalu tidak lebih baik dari apa yang orang lain punya. Saya ingin coba korelasikan ungkapan itu dengan pembelajaran yang akhir2 ini saya terima. Alhamdulillah, beberapa waktu kebelakang ini, Tuhan merancang ‘modul pembelajaran’ yanginvincible untuk saya. Luar biasa, rasanya seperti roller coaster, my real journey just begun after spending 23 years in Bandung. A lot of things happen, hard time, good time, anger, laughter, tears, joy, sadness, ditinggikan, dijatuhkan. It all happens in instant like crazy.

Salah satu metode yang dirancang Dia untuk saya mempelajari semua ini adalah dengan mempertemukan saya dengan banyak tempat baru dan teman baru (tentunya dpt hadiah ‘seorang titipan’ Dia yang paling saya sayang jg saat ini :p). Atas izin Dia jg saya dapat kesempatan untuk banyak mempelajari perspektif baru melalui dialog dari orang-orang yang baru saya temui di tempat yang juga blm pernah saya singgahi.

Ada satu benang merah yang selalu muncul ketika berbicara dengan orang lokal terutama ketika menyangkut tempat tinggalnya. Seorang teman mengeluh tentang terlalu padatnya kota Paris, teman lain mengeluh dengan kakunya negeri tempat tinggalnya di Jerman sehingga dia memilih pindah ke Marseille. Seorang teman di Marseille mengeluh atas sistem transportasi di kota tersebut yang selalu tidak on time. Seseorang mengeluh atas kota London dan mengatakan Amerika adalah tempat tinggal terbaik disaat saya sedang terpana melihat salah satu stadium terbesar di kota itu. Satu keluarga di Iran tak puas dengan pemerintahnya yang terlalu diktator hingga akhirnya bermigrasi ke Kuala Lumpur. Seorang teman baik di Kuala Lumpur mengeluh atas system subway yang memenuhi demand warga Kuala Lumpur, dan ketika kami kesulitan memasuki kereta atau menghadapi antrian panjang, dia akan bilang “Welcome to KL”,sarcastically.

Benang merahnya? Yes, rasanya sangat natural untuk mengatakan kalau apapun yang kita miliki, rumput tetangga selalu lebih hijau. Sekarang di waktu sy diberi kesempatan untuk tinggal untuk beberapa saat di negeri tetangga (the truly Asia one, is it?:p), rasanya jadi ikut penasaran, apa Indonesia ikut jadi keliatan bagus ya dari sudut pandang tetangga ini?

Ga perlu waktu lama untuk akhirnya menemukan jawaban2 ini. Ternyata hipotesa saya cukup terbukti dengan cepat. Bicara tentang ekonomi? Indonesia indeed menjadi pembicaraan hangat di sini dan dunia internasional. Datang dengan beberapa teman dan bergabung dengan 1000 eksekutif muda Malaysia lainnya, dalam acara “ASEAN’s Young Malaysian Corporate Summit”, cukup menarik untuk mengamati salah satu headline-nya:

SESSION 2: Indonesia: ASEAN’s Next Biggest Thing
SESSION 3: The Direction of Islamic Finance in ASEAN
SESSION 4: Where is Malaysia in ASEAN?

Ya, tanpa perlu banyak usaha, poin kedua jelas menjadi topik yang menarik untuk diamati. Agak disayangkan memang, presentasi yang dibawakan oleh seorang Bapak Managing Partner dari salah satu auditor terbesar di dunia ini sangat tidak menarik. Biarpun dia seorang Indonesia tapi dia terdengar lebih semangat mempresentasikan poin Weakness dan Threat dari hasil analisa SWOT yang dia buat (tiba-tiba berasa ringan tangan kalau nanti kami ketemu muka), terlepas dari apa yang dia bawakan, diskusi terasa sangat menarik karena Indonesia di mata Negara lain khususnya ASEAN ternyata sudah berkembang menjadi Negara yang cukup disegani. Perkembangan Indonesia khususnya dalam bidang ekonomi keliatannya cukup signifikan, bersama Turki, Indonesia menjadi Negara yang saat ini atraktif secara investasi menggeser posisi Rusia (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-08-08/brics-losing-to-turkey-in-stocks-as-indonesia-credit-swaps-beating-russia.html). Subtopik yang dibawakan pun memperlihatkan betapa mulai paniknya Negara-negara ASEAN atas langkah Indonesia seperti “Haruskah kita takut Indonesia meninggalkan ASEAN”, karena tampaknya Indonesia akan bisa berjalan maju tanpa ASEAN (http://youngcorporatemalaysians.com/ycms2010/).

Selain sedikit snapshot dari bidang ekonomi. Hal lain yang cukup signifikan adalah dalam bidang kultur, social dan budaya. Insight yang satu ini saya alami sendiri dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Lucu rasanya waktu saya penuh dengan kebingungan berusaha keras mengerti bahasa melayu, tapi mereka begitu mengerti bahasa Indonesia. Thanks to Sinetron yang membuat mereka begitu mengerti kita! Sinetron is so popular here sampai ada satu channel khusus untuk broadcast acara Indonesia! Musik? Apalagi! Saya dan beberapa teman dari Indonesia lainnya bahkan dicap sebagai musisi hanya karena kami seorang Indonesian, stereotyped! Bahkan fenomena unik terjadi di tempat saya bekerja dan cari ilmu. Perusahaan telco yang ternyata cukup besar ini sempat menunjuk brand ambassador yang sama sekali 'gak main-main',the EPL idols, John Terry, Ryan Giggs, dan Steven Gerrard.. tapi coba cek ambassador lainnya dari Bandung yang jatohnya sejajar dengan mereka.

Keliatannya invasi budaya kita juga pernah agak ‘keterlaluan’ disini setelah sy dengar, bahasa lo-gue sempat jadi bahasa ‘gaul’ mereka sampai akhirnya kementrian budaya disini pun turun tangan menghambat laju the Indonesian invasion.

What about sport? Bambang Pamungkas dan Elie Aiboy dianggap seperti Midas disini, dengan golden touch-nya, Bambang yang pernah main untuk Selangor FC berhasil menjadi top scorer dan membawa tim ini juara, treble! Volume penonton di stadion ‘MU’-nya Malaysia ini pun melonjak drastis, selalu memenuhi kapasitas stadion waktu Bambang dkk main.

Terlepas dari aspek-aspek kuantitatif dan kasat mata, ada satu hal lain yang membuat saya agak sedikit terharu dan bangga menjadi orang Indonesia. Tidak hanya satu atau dua orang setempat yang pernah beropini tentang Indonesia. Dia akui, saya akui, masih banyak yang harus dibenahi dari Indonesia, dan mungkin sekarang ini banyak hal yang bisa kita pelajari juga dari mereka. Tapi ada satu hal yang mereka akui mereka tidak pernah punya dari negaranya yang selalu dimiliki oleh Indonesia. They call it passion...

Mereka akui, kalau mereka kagum dengan semangat dan passion orang Indonesia salah satunya terbukti ketika meraih kemerdekaan. Begitu banyak pertumpahan darah, begitu banyak teriakan semangat yang akhirnya ditelan kematian, begitu banyak tangisan sanak saudara ketika akhirnya kita mengusir penjajah dari tanah air. Sementara kemerdekaan yang mereka dapat dari Inggris (bukan maksud mendiskreditkan) sekedar hasil dari pembicaraan dan diplomasi.

Mereka begitu kagum dengan passion dan semangat persatuan Indonesia yang dinaungi ribuan etnis tapi tetap punya satu Bahasa. Sementara sampai saat ini saya masih sering nonton iklan layanan masyarakat pemerintah setempat yang menggalakan penggunaan satu bahasa Melayu sebagai bahasa nasional. Punch line-nya mereka bilang, “if Indonesian wants something, he will fight for it”, dan it’s true up to now.

So, sekarang Indonesia terlihat cukup lebih keren dimata sy, meskipun harusnya selalu bisa keliatan keren kalau kita mau menggeser paradigma dan berhenti menaruh pesimisme. Banyak memang yang harus diperbaiki dari Negara ini. Tapi, bayangkan, bayangkan Negara ini Negara besar! Negara dengan 240 juta jiwa, 1.9 juta km2 luas area. Bandingkan dengan Negara tetangga ini yang luasnya tidak lebih dari 300 ribu km2 dengan 28 juta jiwa. Memang bukan excuse, but aren’t we doing ‘a not bad job’ so far? Ayo tunjukkan apresiasi! Apa semua ini hanya karena salah satu orang? Apa karena ini salah SBY? Soeharto? Gayus? DPR? No, it’s all our job! Dimana logikanya rakyat hanya bisa menuntut dan complaining tapi kita sendiri ga turut dalam perubahan, ini Negara kita, bukan Negara-nya presiden atau DPR. Apa definisi kegilaan/ insanity menurut Albert Einstein? Ya, melakukan hal yang sama tapi mengharapkan hasil yang berbeda.

So, apa Indonesia keliatan lebih keren? A lil better maybe?

DnF Wedding

Last saturday, one of my best friend, Nalia Rifika, hold a wedding reception. After 8 years relationship (subhanallah), Fika & Delon decided to get married on December 11th 2010. The reception was hold twice, with Aceh tradition on December 11th 2010 then Padang tradition in the next day. Fika.. you are strong woman (literally), you wore suntiang twice, salute :)

She shared her story about wedding preparation in a blog, The Journey of DnF Wedding. If you read all of her posts, you'll feel that the one whose getting married is you, hehehe. She explained the wedding preparation comprehensively. I think her blog should be an insprirational source for muslimah wedding.

Since Fika's favorite color is purple (same with me, toss fik!), so almost of us wore purple outfit intentionally. Oh ya, I want to share you about Hijab Outfit for Wedding in the next post, insya allah.

Unfortunately, we sat on Tribun so we couldn't take picture during the show. Overall, the most favorite designer of mine goes to Susan Budiardjo. I like her minimalist and geometric design. She was inspired by the pages on book and a touch of building that depict a geometric shape.

Oh yaaaa.. I met Hanna Faridl from Hijabscarf (we were too busy to talk and eat, so we didn't take any picture ^^) and Jenahara Nasution. Get inspired by Jenahara bold blazer and her unique cage skirt!! Stunning and edgy, is it?. A mother with 1 daughter and a baby (in her belly, I wish you and baby always healthy Mba Je).

And this is my style, soo simple. Currently I love wearing maxi skirt with a touch of fall/winter color. Batwing Paint Brush Top that I bought from Rumah Mode, Maxi Skirt from Zara, Peach Heels from Charles and Keith, and Bag from Capriasi.

I came to see Blogger Yard Sale last Friday. I was curious how great the event was, how unique the stuff that they would sell, and how good Mazee fX, The Art Fashion Store, is. Woooa... I felt like entering Brightspot Market, but it has better atmosphere and unique design. You would see recycled drums, container (petikemas 20 feet, for export import) at their interior, is it unique?. Below some stalls that get my attention.

About the yard sale. Since the beginning, I hadn't have plan to buy any dress or stuff, just want to see how the blogger yard sale was. In my point of view, this kind activity was legen, wait for, dary (HIMYM ^^). Why? Anyone can buy a secondhand stuff from fashion blogger with affordable price, good quality, and unique design, so everyone can be stylish.

Fashion Tendance 2011-Intertwine

Fashion Tendance (FT) is an annual program organized by APPMI since 1993 until now. FT is a fashion show in order to give information about fashion trends in the next year or one year to come.

Dian Pelangi's theme is Colorscope. Inspired by Lego, the toy that have bright colors which is mismatch. She used plain ATBM fabric and plain songket with Palembang pattern that has vibrant colors and gradations. Great masterpiece of Dian Pelangi, looove the colors and design so much, don't you agree?

I met my beautiful hijabers, we promised to wear Jeans + Colorful top on the day before in order to match with Dian Pelangi's theme. But... I think the one who wear the dress code perfectly only Restu, colorful orange!! ^^ my favorite style goes to Mba Anne who wear geek glasses, best glasses that really match with her face, love it!!

Oh yaaa, I think the next scarf trend will be a scarf that made from a cotton (t-shirt) fabric. It feels light, cold, easy to be modeled at any ways. See Ria Miranda (at the center, wear black maxi dress) and Dian Ayu (number two from the right side).

I met my best friend, Tenri Ita, we did a long talk about love (best part! ahahaha), family, facial treatment (we have same place to do facial treatment, which is at Titi Moertolo), secret admire, fashion, and the unforgetable one, shopping :D. I bought a comfiest cotton pashmina from Up2Date, I'll share you next time ;)

Yayyy!! Today I wanna share you my edgy style wearing plain white shirt. How to make a white shirt looks edgy?? Hmmm..this is a little bit confusing, as white shirt is usually worn as an office outfit, which is formal and boring. Than (in my opinion) edgy style is a courage to be different and standing in the crowd. How.. how.. how to mix and match a white shirt looks edgy?

Me and cousins went to Grand Indonesia two weeks ago. How lovely that I met my sisters and brothers, because we were missed each other and a meet-up could heal it! We had dinner at Mr. Curry - attending Jakarta Culinary Festival - and watching Shock Labyrinth (the worst horror movie ever!!).

Jakarta Fashion Week 10/11 - APPMI

On last Tuesday, I were invited to attend Jakarta Fashion Week 10/11 to see APPMI's fashion show. You can read full review of this fashion show trough :

All of them described the fashion show comprehensively, including beautiful photographs. So, I just want to share you, two video that I took during the fashion show. I've learned how to do video editing just for 2 days, pardon me if the result were bad, an amateur was using camera pocket, hehehe.

Kebaya for Graduation

Inspired by Balinese Kebaya, which is I love so much, so I made this kebaya for my graduation day at 2009. At the top, I dressed in lacey KEBAYA (long-sleeved) which added an Obi for Balinese look that was made from chiffon fabric. Then I made a little bit modification for the bottom. Instead of using KAIN PRADA for the skirt, I used KAIN SONGKET, because I hardly find kain prada in Jakarta. Overall, kain songket also beautiful as kain prada, don't you agree? :) Oh ya, the combination of Purple and Gold is soo glamorous.

How was your days, dear bloggers? I made a big decision and I'll tell you later. Kinda sad to share you all now. I wish this decision is the best for me, for my family, and future.

My outfit on last weekend. I was accompanied my mother to hospital, and ALHAMDULILLAH now she is getting well.

What I Wore :

Tie Dye Scarf that I bought at Erlangga, Bali (the blue color is a love shaped), Stripe Blazer from Yellowline (my everlasting mood of pattern is stripe, I do love and collect stripe pattern), Pleated Pant from Zara, Brown Belt from Elizabeth, and Shoes from Bellagio.

The closer look of my hijab style. I adapted this style from Talitha Lubis, Non-Sugarbanana. Guess what the differences between my hijab style and hers? :D

Traveling Outfit

The only attention we pay towards our outfits when traveling usually is more fashion oriented that practical. Of course we all want to look good on our travels, you can still do so but make sure your clothing is suited to where you are going (Amreen Bi)

Here some tips that I summarize based on my experience during traveling.

Tips for hijabis women when traveling :

The first consideration is comfort. During flight, choose the comfiest outfit. It is better to bring jacket/cardie/pashmina.
T-shirt or cotton fabrics is a must. Those outfits will absorb sweat & heat also, those hardly to wrinkle.
Choose multipurpose bag. Consider not too big and small one. Don't ever thing to bring clutch or over sized bag during traveling :D
Don't hurt your feet. Selecting best shoes is very essential. High heels is a big no-no. I prefer crocs for my comfiest shoes.

A Glimpse of Bali (Part 2)

Let us continue the story about unforgettable trip to Bali...

The third day, Sept. 14 2010
Route : Tegalalang, Kintamani, Karangasem

Tegalalang

The first route was going to Lake Batur and Mount Batur in Kintamani. It turned out pretty far away from our home in Gatot Subroto, Denpasar to Kintamani (it takes approximately 1 hour). During the trip, we stopped at Tegalalang Village. We can see rice terraces (sengkedan), a great place to stop off because it gives the most amazing views of rice fields. Subhanallah.

Admission fee : free of charge :D

Kintamani - Mount & Lake Batur

Bali's hot air will change dramatically when we reached Kintamani. You just open the window, and you will feel the cool mountain wind slapping your face :D. It felt cool like in Puncak. Arriving at Kintamani, I saw Mount Batur & Lake Batur.

Mount Batur in an active volcano. This mountain is one of the largest and most beautiful in the world. Beside the mountain, there are crescent-shaped lake which occupies the southeastern part which is called Lake Batur. On the shores of Lake Batur, there is Trunyan Village. I was invited there, but refused it. I imagined seeing a grave where his body was place just above the ground, no thanks.

Admission fee : IDR 30,000/car

Kedisan Floating Restaurant

We had lunch at Kedisan Floating Restaurant at the mouth of Lake Beratan. The scenery and food were extremely awesome. When we were sitting on the dinner table, we could see Mount & Lake Batur as a natural background. Beautiful, indeed. Oh ya, their special menus is all about Mujahir fish. Compare with Demos Cafe at my previous post, this restaurant is cheaper, we spent only IDR 428,000 (for 8 person).

Pura Besakih

Pura Besakih is located on the slope of Mount Agung. Pura Besakih is a complex of temples and becomes the center of activities for all temples in Bali. Below some pictures that I took about the Bali's people doing ceremony at Pura Besakih.

Admission fee : IDR 75,000 / all
Rent scarf : IDR 10,000 / each

At the entrance of the temple, we offered tour guide to accompany a walk in the temple. But, we refused because our driver also has the same knowledge about it. Why should it be a waste of money anyway? Thanks to Bli Padol, our handsome driver :D

The fourth day, Sept. 15 2010
Route : Sarijati Banjar, Bedugul, Tanah Lot

Srijati Banjar

Today, we were invited by our driver, Bli Prima, to attend Ceremony of Cutting Teeth (Upacara Potong Gigi) or Metatah/Mesanggih in Bahasa Bali. This ceremony was hold on his village, Srijati Banjar. Metatah ceremony is one of the most important rituals for each individual who adheres to Balinese Hinduism. This ceremony marks a person enter adulthood. The purpose is to reduce the bad characteristics of the person.

His small happy family : Sawitri, Rio, Bli Prima, missed baby Ivo (sleep at home)

We were very glad to come and be invited to this ceremony. Although this is a closed & family only ceremony, but we were invited, thank you Bli Prima. If you will go to Bali and have not found any driver, I highly recommend Bli Prima. He is a nice, friendly, and knows interesting place in Bali.

Contact him on : 0852-384-77427 or (0361) 8882949. There are various kind of cars and motorcycles, you must reserve in advance. He has a competitive rates, just say my name :D

Bedugul

Bedugul offers the natural beauty of mountains and lakes, just like Batur. Beratan Lake is one of tourist attraction in Bedugul that you shouldn't be missed. The cool weather during the day, make us feel comfortable to enjoy the scenery around lake Beratan. In the middle of the lake, there is Ulun Danu Temple.

Admission fee : IDR 7500 / person

Tanah Lot

Who does not know Tanah Lot? I think this is the most known tourism site in Bali. There are two temples that situated on a huge rock. One is located in the upper crust and the other located on a cliff similar to the Uluwatu Temple. Pura Tanah Lot is one of the largest sacred temple in Bali.

Tanah Lot is known as the best place to watch sunset in Bali. But unfortunately, the weather was rainy so that we couldn't see sunset. Ahhh.. feeling disappointed and sad.

Admission fee : IDR 8000

The fifth day, Sept. 16 2010
Route : Dreamland

Last day in Bali :( and I hate it. Anyway, we were go to Dreamland. Dreamland beach surrounded by cliffs and fairly large rock around the beach. The location of this beach is within the complex of Pecatu Graha Bali.

Today I planned to tan my skin :D and it works!! :D Although only on the face that become darker, hehehe.

A Glimpse of Bali (Part 1)

The day after the Eid, my cousins and I were on holiday to Bali. As usual, we bought plane tickets in advance so it can be cheaper. Vacation must be effective and efficient, it's my motto. :)

The first day, Sept. 12, 2010

We should arrive in Bali at 6 pm, but as the flight delayed almost half an hour, so we arrived at 7 pm. Kinda disappointed with that airline. What is the name of the airline?(Hint: low-cost airline). Then we headed to Jimbaran for dinner at Demos Cafe. In my opinion, the price of food in this restaurant is quite expensive (around IDR 650,000 for 8 person), but the taste is super delicious. Must try : barracuda fish. After dinner, we headed to Kuta for a while.

The second day, Sept. 13, 2010
Route : Tanjung Benoa, Garuda Wisnu Kencana, Uluwatu

Tanjung Benoa

Tanjung Benoa is a perfect place for water sport activities such as parasailing, jetski, banana boat, scuba diving, snorkelling, glassbottom view through boat, visiting Pulau Penyu, and flying fish. We tried all the activities except jetski, scuba diving, and snorkelling. My favorite is FLYING FISH, not scary at all because there will be 1 instructor in the middle accompanied us, and you know what? I still mantained good relationship with the instructor, his name is Dicky, what a kind he is.

Mas Soleh looked like Appeton Weight Gain Advertisement, he such a tiny thin man *Ups :DPosed before Flying Fish. Mas Soleh, Cindy, Bli Prima (Our Driver), Mas Dessa, and Me

At Pulau Penyu, hmm... I shouldn't recommend this place, you just see and touch animal such as snake, eagle, and turtle.

Parasailing : IDR 75,000/person
Banana Boat : IDR 100,000/person
Flying Fish : IDR 150,000/person
Glassbottom view : IDR 450,000/boat
Pulau Penyu : seiklhasnya, donation for the animal

Tips : take a half day to try all activities, don't forget bring spare clothes, and use sunblock.

Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park

GWK is located in Bukit Unggasan, Jimbaran Bali. This statue is designed and built by I Nyoman Nuarta. GWK is depicting Lord Wisnu riding on the back of the mythical bird Garuda. If construction is finished, this sculpture will become the largest sculpture in the world and beat the Statue of Liberty. Ah.. Don't you love Indonesia? :)

Admission fee to GWK : IDR 25,000

Uluwatu

Uluwatu temple is located in the region Pecatu, Badung, Bali. For me, this is the most must see place in Bali, so romantic *I wish come here again with my loved one*. Perfect place to watch sunset. Also there is Kecak Dance performance that extremely wonderful, beautiful,.... speechless. Highly recommended place.

Admission fee : IDR 3,000
Kecak Dance : IDR 70,000

So, what do you thinking of Bali?? I was being spell by this island to come back soon. Oh, how I love Bali..

This is a super late update about Hijab Scarf gathering last week, pardon me girls :)

I felt honoured as a muslimah when I saw all of my sisters in this gathering. In my point of view, muslimahs also can be stylist, just don't be afraid that you'll left behind fashion things when you wear hijab. As you can see at picture below, the initiator of this event : Fifi Alvianto (Hijab Scarf), Ria Miranda (Shabby Chic), Hanna Faridl (Hijab Scarf), also Dian Pelangi (The Merchant Daughter). They looked fashionable over their hijab! You just can wear your maxi dress for feminime looks, or wear pleated pant for chic looks. We have various style in mix & match for hijab, just don't be afraid, Alhamdulillah.

This fashion show was held on July 22nd 2010, on Annex Building, Wisma Nusantara, Jakarta. This was my first time heading a fashion show. I saw many fashionistas around me, bless them for brilliant mix of outfit, great! There were 4 young creative designers: Albert Yanuar, Hian Tjen, Imelda Kartini Prasetyo, and Tex Saverio. Their collection were different each other, but I kinda saw some of Alexander McQueen theme which is Dramatic and Extravagant on the show.

Happy birthday for my Papa. This year is your retirement period. I hope you will be enjoy your time at home, do sport even more, also ruin small business. I wish you always happy & healthy. Amin Ya Rabb.

We celebrated it at Blue Erawan, Menteng. If you see the building outside, you will see a unique Thailand house. And when I walked in, I felt like I was in Thailand. I think this is the best Thai Restaurant in here. Great taste, cozy place, and the waitresses were friendly, the said "Sawadee" to greet us. The chief also gave a compliment for my mother because she dropped of the dessert.

What a great ambience!

What I wore : A simple dress that I bought at Blossom (FO in Bandung) at 2nd year on my college. I rarely wear it since yesterday. Alhamdulillah, the dress still fits on me, hehehe. Also I added red necklace (given from my Mom), Mustard Inner + Brown Tight, and Brown Wedges (Yongki Komaladi).

Hey, salam for everyone! What did you do on your weekend? I spent a night in Bandung continuing my small business with my beloved friend, Ima. Nana accompanied me from Jakarta, thank you Na!

Day 1
Lunch at Nanny's Pavilion. The restaurant is located at Jl. Riau, near from Taman Pramuka. I just love the decoration of the restaurant. In my opinion, the taste of their pancakes and pastas were standard.

Halo Friends! Have you came to Brightspot? Yesterday I went to Plaza Indonesia EX level 4 to see how and what Brightspot market is, yaa this is my first time to look Brightspot. I felt curious about it and decided to go with my brother and his girl friend.

Overall, I love this market, this is a place for creative people especially in fashion industry to present their masterpiece. Many fashion item such as tops, dresses, bags, jewelry, jeans, etc that beyond the usual. Unfortunately, I left my pocket camera at my car so I didn't take any picture. So here some pictures that I took from Brightspot website.

I just bought Grey Maxi Dress from Nikicio and Neptune Knee Length Dress from Cotton Ink. Oh ya, after we visited Brightspot, we went to Radio Dalem for dinner at Holycow (near from Alfa Midi and Dimsum Festival). Mmm.. I recommend you Wagyu Sirloin Steak, and Wagyu Rib Eye, delicious..

Assalamu'alaikum bloggers....

I don't know why almost every weekend I wore pink wardrobe :D. Last week, I accompanied my big brother to PIM for putting number at his Liverpool jersey. Oh yaaa, tonight my favorite team at World Cup 2010, Spain will beat Paraguay at Quarter Finals. Go Fernando Torres and teams!!!

Had meals at La Codefin Kemang with my besties for next day. You must try sandwich at Cafe Deli, the taste so Asian cuisine.

Have great weekend everybody! I prefer staying at home due to Laryngitis (radang tenggorokan) and fever.
